Crossposted from my sims journal, katu-sims.
Ages ago, when I finished my first set of face templates, I mourned the lack of a really intricate step-by-step tutorial on how to make them. Making face templates is a challenging project, and there were lots of times when I really wished there was a picture showing me where the heck the “Commit” button was, etc. So, I decided to write one.
At this point, this tutorial is several years old (written in 2008!), so both Windows and SimPE have changed…not so much that these pictures are no longer helpful, mind. But if something looks slightly different, that is why. I do still provide as much support as possible for this tutorial, and if you are stuck, you’re more than welcome to ask me to help. Also feel free to check the comments on the original entry in case your issue has already been discussed.
But enough talk, onto the tutorial!
So, I have to brag a little bit. I’ve never touched MilkShape before this, nor any other similar meshing program. I basically picked it out on my own and as such, am fairly proud of the result.
What you are about to download is a default face replacement of the EELF (#26) template. Like my other face templates, you can not have more than one replacement for any template at a time, so you’ll need to remove your existing #26 template in order to use this one. This will overwrite the Maxis template but will not affect any sims already extant within your game. Since this is one of the final two templates, it will not generate townies unless you have a hack that allows for this (available at MATY).
Pictures of the Template, all ages and genders, with different eyes and skintones, to follow. None of the models are wearing makeup.

ETA: I’ve added an alternate version
that will replace face template #27 instead of #26, because an observant reader pointed out that I was making you choose between this template and it’s amazing predecessor, Fantasyrogue’s Rhys Template! So, if you have FR’s template (or otherwise prefer to keep your EELF replacement, you can download the ETGE replacement instead!

The inimitable Astrocake requested a version that replaces the unnumbered Alien template, which I hilariously was unaware of the existence of! I had conflated it with ETGE entirely somehow. Good times. In any case, here is the version that replaces “Alien.” I have not tested it in game so please alert me if I screwed anything tremendous up. ^_^

OR
You can now download this face, plus two of Fantasyrogue’s templates, as NON-default face templates, thanks to Dominiquex at Garden of Shadows!
These face templates will overwrite the default Maxis faces in your game. Existing sims will not be affected, but if you generate new townies, they will appear with these faces!
You can only have one set of faces at a time, but you can mix and match specific templates if you’d like!
You have two choices for downloads; you can either download the whole bunch at once, or you can download it in chunks (for those with slower connections, or if you only want certain faces.
